You've experienced stress, and your body isn't letting go.

Your life is being affected by powerful emotions, memories or triggers.

Maybe you feel alone, trapped, worthless or powerless.

Sometimes you feel like a failure or that you are responsible for the harm.

Negative responses can show up in a lot of different ways from a wide variety of events.

Traumatic events can include:

  • neglect, discrimination or abuse

  • multigenerational trauma
  • workplace stress or injury

  • a motor vehicle/car accident

  • secondary or vicarious trauma

You want to free yourself from the past.

EMDR Therapy is a proven approach to helping people heal from painful experiences.

EMDR is a mind-body therapy that stimulates both sides of the brain and body.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an effective and efficient type of therapy that has evolved to include tapping, sound, lights, and other bilateral techniques.

In EMDR, we target past experiences or negative beliefs to reprocess and reorganize them in your brain.

An EMDR therapist can help you contain, regulate, and make sense of your memories and feelings.

Working with a trained EMDR therapist can help you gain control of your thoughts, emotions, and actions.

You can clear disturbing memories and respond in the present moment.

When you understand what happened and how you reacted in a stressful experience, you can develop new responses and beliefs.

Our brains are amazing - it's never too late to change how we process information and form new connections.

It is possible to adapt and grow your capacity to tolerate stimuli that used to trigger you.

You can go back to places and activities that bring you joy and fullness.

What if you could...

  • increase awareness

  • reduce sensitivity

  • feel more secure

  • stay in the present

  • trust yourself

A good EMDR therapist helps you work through negative experiences or beliefs with kindness and compassion.

You can feel confident you will be supported through the process of EMDR with the primary focus on you and what you need as a person.

Counselling gives you a space to explore your stories, memories, and patterns with curiosity and acceptance.

You can keep what serves you and let go of what isn't working for you anymore.

EMDR therapy can help you resolve:

  • intrusive thoughts or images

  • panic attacks

  • flashbacks or nightmares

  • hypervigilance

  • anxiety or pain

You can build a relationship with a trauma-informed therapist who values whole person care

EMDR can help people struggling with:

  • anxiety or depression

  • loss and grief

  • pain or slow physical recovery

  • traumatic responses

  • unexpected reactions

We offer in person and online EMDR so you can connect to a therapist anywhere in Calgary and across Alberta.

The best EMDR therapist to meet your needs might live in a different area.

We love online therapy because it's convenient and flexible. EMDR is effective both in person and online and sometimes can feel easier when you are in your own space.

You'll love online therapy if you are:

  • a little nervous about going to therapy

  • most comfortable in a familiar place

  • choosing a therapist based on your preferences

  • okay skipping the commute and physical meeting

We build great relationships online and sometimes the distance makes it a little easier to explore and process vulnerable parts of your trauma.

Our therapists offer evening and weekend appointments to fit your lifestyle.

You can break free from fear and pain.

You might still have some questions or concerns about EMDR Therapy...

What is EMDR?

EDMR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a researched and proven approach to therapy that supports clients through three stages: Stabilization & Resourcing, Processing, and Integration. EMDR uses bilateral stimulation (sight, sound, or touch) to activate both sides of the brain to reprocess memories and beliefs that were not adaptively integrated into the mind and body.

What is trauma?

Trauma is anything that overwhelms a person's internal capacity to cope. Everyone experiences events differently, and if threat or harm is perceived and prevents the body or mind from integrating or releasing the stress, the effects of the trauma can linger for decades.

What is a trauma-informed therapist?

Trauma-informed therapists understand the impact of negative experiences on a person’s body and mind. They recognize your emotions, thoughts, and behaviors are the ways you have learned to cope with stress and trauma. They know how to facilitate recovery, and practice in a way that reduces the likelihood of causing further harm. Trauma-informed therapists provide safety and choice at every step of the process and prioritize building a secure therapeutic relationship - the basis for healing.

What is whole person care?

We see your whole person – mind, body, emotion and identities. How you respond now makes sense when you consider the whole picture, including your past and present relationships. No one develops alone without the influence of other people, culture, society, and history, so of course we need help learning to grow in new ways. That's why we're here for you.

How much does EMDR Therapy cost?

Our EMDR therapy sessions are $220 with a Psychologist or Social Worker with direct billing for most insurance companies, or a receipt to claim for re-imbursement or as a medical expense on your taxes. Extended sessions are available. EMDR counselling sessions with a Certified Canadian Counsellor are $180; check with your insurance to confirm coverage for mental health counselling. Sliding scale fees are available.
