Elizabeth Muia (she/her),
BIPOC Therapist Calgary

REGISTERED PROVISIONAL PSYCHOLOGIST

Online BIPOC counsellor for adults & teens in Calgary & Alberta

It's time to feel heard, understood, accepted, and respected.

Elizabeth Muia Black Psychologist & Counsellor Calgary.webp

I work with people who feel tired, afraid, angry, or hopeless.

My name is Elizabeth, I am a provisional psychologist and black therapist in Calgary. I'm a Black Canadian (born in Kenya) and live on Treaty 7 land in Calgary.

I do online therapy specializing in helping adults and teens struggling with anxiety, depression, discrimination, immigration, and racial trauma. I offer therapy in both English and Kiswahili and understand Broken English.

I care, accept, and value each person I work with and strive to create an environment where you are comfortable and safe to be whoever you are, wherever you are, in your journey.

It can be difficult to find a therapist who understands your unique emotional experience and mental health issues. You can receive genuine help.

I bring my own human experience into the relationship – our differences and our sameness provide opportunities for learning and growth.

I have worked in community mental health, school mental health, and cultural programs to support the healing of individuals, couples, and families from diverse backgrounds.

As an immigrant parent, I am especially committed to providing empathetic and culturally sensitive care to immigrants and people of color who are navigating the Albertan and Canadian landscape.

I will form a respectful and collaborative relationship as your equal so we can work toward the changes you want to make. When you understand your experience and connect with your body, you can learn to cope, better respond to triggers, and control your thoughts, emotions, and actions.

I am passionate about supporting you to feel empowered, able, and energized. You can move forward, release blame and shame, and feel a greater sense of self worth and control.

Read my blog to learn more about me.

If you feel that we may be a good fit, I offer a free 20 minute consultation, or you can book your first session online.
