I work with youth, adults, and older adults who are experiencing anxiety and overwhelming thought cycles.

My name is Malisa Morris, Mental Health Therapist. I am a Chinese Canadian (born in Saskatoon SK, and raised in Toronto ON), living on Treaty 6 land in Edmonton, AB.

As a Registered Social Worker, I offer individual, couple, and family therapy. I am here to collaborate with you in developing strategies to navigate challenges and move towards a more balanced and fulfilling life.

I believe that every individual possesses the inner strength and resilience needed to overcome life's challenges and obstacles. However, it's common for people to get stuck in patterns of thinking that can hinder their progress.

My role is to provide support and guidance to help individuals gain a better understanding of these thought patterns. My goal is to extend empathy and compassion to each individual, ensuring they feel safe and validated.

You can benefit from therapy to change unhelpful thinking patterns that lead to overwhelming thoughts and anxiety. I prioritize creating an environment where you can be fully accepted for who you are. In our interactions, I bring not only my authentic self but also a genuine curiosity about how your mind, body, and emotions connect, which can help you recognize your strengths to overcome challenges.

I focus on your abilities and the importance of trust in our relationship. I also believe in normalizing and validating your experiences and journey. Together, we'll empower you to gain more learning and understanding of yourself and how you see the world. This process can lead to a greater sense of peace and well-being.

Drawing from my experience with somatic awareness, I integrate aspects of this into our sessions to deepen the exploration of your experiences. I also bring practical strategies and tools to the table, aiming to help you navigate challenges related to symptoms. My approach centers on seeing and validating you as an individual first, and I would be honored to accompany you on the journey toward discovering you!

More than just my work:

  1. My favorite quote: “You will face many defeats in life, but never let yourself be defeated.” -Maya Angelou

  2. What brings you a sense of ease? What brings me a sense of ease is practicing yoga, spending quality time with my family at home, and seeing the growth and positive change in my clients. These moments provide me with a deep sense of fulfillment and peace.

  3. Something fun or interesting: I lived in 3 provinces, born in Saskatchewan, raised in Ontario and now living in Alberta. I love to eat all fruits and vegetables (yes even bitter, sour and tasteless ones) unless it is poisonous. And lastly, I have 3 sons (1 set of twins).

If you feel that we may be a good fit, I offer a free 20 minute consultation, or you can book a first session online.
