Marina Fanous (she/her),
Couples Counsellor Calgary

Online Counsellor for adults & teens in Calgary & Alberta

It’s time to feel more calm, happy and connected.

Marina Fanous, Certified Canadian Counsellor

Do you feel lost or alone and worry about your future?

You want to improve your life, but you feel stuck.

My name is Marina Fanous. I am a Canadian Certified Counsellor and a Couples Counsellor who is soon to be Gottman-certified. I'm an Egyptian-Canadian and live on Treaty 6 land in Edmonton. I offer therapy in Arabic and English.

I work with adults and teens struggling with depression, anxiety, self-esteem, and relationship issues.

I offer a space where you can be yourself without feeling judged or misunderstood.

I work to create a space where you can bring up even your most difficult thoughts.

I believe that we are social beings who long for a sense of belonging and connection.

Maybe you’re aware of what needs to change and just don’t know how to break the cycle.

Together we can build on your strengths and shift your challenges to improve your relationships and life.

I want to help you communicate well with others, strengthen your support system, and explore new perspectives. You can make sense of your thoughts and learn new tools for self-growth.

I practice using a person-centered approach. That means that I show up to every session with congruence (I am genuine), unconditional positive regard (I am non-judgmental), and empathy (I am understanding).

I offer a direct approach and multicultural perspective, showing up as my authentic self.

It is possible to enjoy life without being in survival mode.

You can look back at your past experiences and see how they have made you the strong and unique person you are now.

More than just my work:

  1. Your favorite quote: “Keep your thoughts positive because your thoughts become your words.
Keep your words positive because your words become your behaviour. Keep your behaviour
positive because your behaviour become your habits. Keep your habits positive because your
habits become your values. Keep your values positive because your values become your

  2. What brings you a sense of ease? Knowing that I am not alone.

  3. Something fun or interesting: Fun fact about me: Since I’ve moved a lot growing up, I’ve been to
    8 schools in 4 countries.
